An unconventional building in the middle of Barcelona - also with Gaudí's signature - is also known as La Pedrera. It was essentially his last building before embarking on his life's work, La Sagrada Familia. Gaudí built Casa Milà as a private home for a wealthy landowner (who was enchanted by his previous work). Today, however, the building is open to the public and houses Gaudí's museum, gallery and studio with many of his paintings, sketches and designs. Casa Milà was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1984.
